For years, my mornings started with a lesson plan and a room full of curious eyes. I was a teacher — and I loved it. The moment something clicks for a child, the quiet satisfaction of knowing you helped shape a mind. That never really leaves you.

When I became a mom, I traded whiteboards for mixing bowls and discovered that the two aren’t so different. I make bread — sandwich loaves, dinner rolls, focaccia, banana bread. I decorate cutout cookies for every season. And somewhere along the way I started a garden that has slowly, happily taken over my backyard.

Flour & Chalk is where all of it lives. The flour is for everything I bake. The chalk is for the teacher I’ll always be. And somewhere in the middle: a garden, a family, and a whole lot of royal icing on the counter.
